GymAware PowerTool sounds and indicators
The PowerTool will emit 3 short pips just prior to going into sleep mode. If this becomes continuous or repetitive then it is likely that the PowerTool is continually being awakened by an infra red source such as a fluorescent light. (Keep in mind that the sensor first establishes a connection to the Palm PDA via infra-red and then it automatically switches to Bluetooth).
During charging place the unit away from any IR sources or place a piece of cardboard over the top of the sensor.
Once charged, the unit can be placed back into the Pelican case (with the lid closed) which should prevent it been inadvertently awakened by stray infra-red light.
Indicators Battery low warning sequence:-
(1) If the battery voltage is low then the red LED will continually flash. If this occurs then recharge the unit.
(2) If the sensor’s battery voltage falls too low then the RED LED will extinguish and the sensor will continuously emit a beep (and flash the LED) when connected via Bluetooth to the PDA.
(3) If the battery is critically low, the sensor will emit 2 long slow beeps when the user tries to connect the PDA via infra-red. After these 2 long beeps, the sensor will emit the 3 short pips and go back to sleep until it has been recharged. (This is to prevent the battery from damage).
(4) In the exceptional event that the red LED is always on; this indicates an error, so disconnect the battery to reset.
The green LED is to indicate that there is a connection to the PDA via the Bluetooth protocol.
The orange LED indicates encoder counts are active (when connected in measurement mode) / Sensor is “awake” and waiting for a connection from the PDA / Sensor has received an IR pulse.
