Tony Hoffman is a retired professional BMX’er turned elite coach. His time in the sport is well spent by adding and understanding the benefits of using technology as a tool to guide and increase sport performance.
Prior to using GymAware, he had not used a power monitoring tool in the gym. Tony had used SRM's on the bike, timing systems for sprints, and safety net devices to monitor fatigue but never anything for the gym.
How did you hear about GymAware?
One of my biggest mentors turned me on to the device. It made much more coaching sense to use sports technology.
What was your experience getting started with the GymAware
Getting used to GymAware has been a breeze. The few questions I have had, GymAware customer service has provided quick and thorough support - ensuring that I understood how to accomplish what I needed.
Why do you need GymAware?
Before finding GymAware I knew there was a limiter in my program, such as; how do you know when an athlete is recovered in season and ready for a gym session? How much work is necessary based on their evaluations before going into a session? These were questions I could not answer without GymAware. I wanted to address these issues with my athletes so their in-season approach was better served with proper training intensity and recovery.
How has the GymAware helped your business?
GymAware gives my athletes more confidence in the work they are doing. When you can quantify an athlete’s performance and show them objective data, this gives them confidence that they are doing all the right things possible to make themselves the best.
Please list your KEY aims of use with GymAware
The two biggest factors of my use are going to be proper workload balance and intensity of lifts.
